Deep Fishing Distance First, Then Luck

Legendary, Mythical, and Secret sit in farther water. A short lucky cast still fishes the pier.

How to Catch Rare Fish in Deep Fishing

Rare fish in Deep Fishing are a geography problem before they are a luck problem. Legendary, Mythical, and Secret are the rarity badges LazyGames uses as proof, and Secret is the rare one. The Roblox experience has been live since 18 July 2026, free, online, and limited to 12 players per server. None of that changes the rule: if the lure never leaves close water, you are rolling close water. Stacking Lucky, Super Lucky, or Ultra Lucky on a tap-cast does not teleport the splash.

This page is the hunt order. Rankings live on the fish rarity tier list. Mutations are a parallel collection covered in how to get mutations. Distance setup lives in how to cast farther. If you still cannot start a fishing attempt, fix the hold on controls and the first-hour loop on Getting Started before you grind badges.

What “rare” means here

This wiki does not invent species names. It uses the badges the game actually awards. Legendary, Mythical, and Secret mark rarity. Mutations mark a different kind of proof. Catch-count badges at 50, 250, 1,000, 10K, 50K, 100K, 250K, and 500K mark volume. Volume is not rarity. You can hit 1,000 catches in the nearest band and still have no Secret. You can also land a Secret later and still be missing a high catch-count trophy. Keep those tracks separate on the badges page so a shiny common does not get sold as a disappointment or a Secret does not get treated as junk.

Because we do not publish a fake bestiary, your eyes and the badge toast are the identifier. If a catch awards a rarity badge, that is the rare fish. If it only adds to a counter, it was a volume catch. Play that way and you will not need a fan-made name list to know whether the hunt worked.

Distance first

New waters hold rarer fish. Strength plus a full hold is how you get there. Sell every bundle, buy Strength, and confirm the splash moved before you call the session a rarity farm. One cast can still return multiple fish; farther water simply changes which pool those fish can come from. Players who skip this step and buy luck are paying to reroll the starter band.

Use the upgrade tier list so coins keep going into the throw. Use the cast planner if you want a hold reminder between buys. Do not pause the Strength line because a near-miss “looked Legendary.” Looks are not badges. Badges are badges.

Luck second

After the splash sits in better water, luck passes have a job. Lucky, Super Lucky, and Ultra Lucky are the named luck line. They do not replace Strength. They weight rolls inside the water you can already reach. Buy them only when you are actually fishing that water. VIP, Double XP, Double Coins, Fish Magnet, More Mutations, and Auto Sell are adjacent tools, not rarity buttons. Compare them on the gamepass tier list instead of guessing a Robux price this wiki will not invent.

Fish Magnet is not documented here as a Secret guarantee. Double Coins helps you fund more Strength, which is still distance. Auto Sell keeps the loop moving so you do not drown in inventory during a long hunt. More Mutations belongs to the mutation page. None of those passes are a reason to stop throwing far.

Secret is rare on purpose

Treat Secret as a proof badge, not as a daily quest. Sessions can go long without one. That is expected. Keep selling, keep the rod in the farther band, and do not reset to tap-casts out of frustration. Mythical and Legendary are still worth landing on the way; they are the middle proof, not consolation junk. If you need a morale metric, watch catch-count badges climb while you stay in the right water. Volume while you hunt is still progress. Volume in the wrong water is busywork.

Online servers do not steal your Secret. A 12-player lobby can clutter the camera, but other players are not pulling fish out of your personal splash. If you cannot see the water, rotate and throw. This is not single-player-only and not a local-only room. It is a shared pier with private hauls.

Mutations are not a rarity substitute

A mutated common is not a Secret. Do not end a rarity hunt because a mutation popped and the sprite looked loud. Finish the rarity plan, then swap to how to get mutations if that collection is the actual goal. You can work both over a week; you should not confuse them in a single toast.

A hunt session that respects the loop

  1. Confirm the lure reaches water with a full hold.
  2. Sell, buy Strength, and move the splash. Repeat until you are in a farther band, not until you are bored.
  3. Optionally add a luck pass now, not earlier.
  4. Cast, resolve multi-fish hauls, sell, and watch for rarity badges rather than invented species names.
  5. Claim group rewards if you have not liked, favorited, and joined the group yet. There were no confirmed promo codes as of September 2026, so the codes hub is only a watch list.
  6. Stop the session when the rod is still in the right water, not when anger sends you back to tap-casts.

The scripts hub and auto-fish exist for that research; they are not a rare-fish method on this page.

Treat Secret as a proof badge you might not see this hour, Legendary and Mythical as proof you should still cash, and every short throw as a wasted roll. Rare fish live past the splash you have not bought yet. Get there with Strength, stay there with a real hold, and only then let luck talk. That is the entire hunt, and it is why this page keeps sending you back to distance instead of to a fake spawn table.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Deep Fishing questions.

What are the rare fish in Deep Fishing?

This wiki uses the badges: Legendary, Mythical, and Secret. Secret is the rare proof. Rankings sit on the fish rarity tier list. Species names are not invented here.

Should I buy luck before I can throw far?

No. Distance first, luck second. A luck pass still samples close water if the lure never leaves it. Read how to cast farther first.

Is a Mutation the same as a Secret?

No. Mutations are a separate collection. Follow how to get mutations for that track, and keep rarity badges on this hunt.

Do catch-count badges mean I am close to Secret?

Not by themselves. 50, 250, 1,000, 10K, 50K, 100K, 250K, and 500K measure volume. Rarity is a different badge line on the badges page.

Can other players on the server snatch my rare catch?

Deep Fishing is online with up to 12 players, but your haul is still your throw. Camera clutter is the usual problem, not stolen Secret badges. See the players hub.
